August is going to be a FUN month here at Simply Simple Stamping. Throughout the month, I will be sharing some great ways to use the Aqua Painters, starting with today’s 2-Minute Tuesday Tip.
Before we get into the video, let me share some info about the Aqua Painters.
- You actually get 2 brushes – 1 medium brush tip, 1 large brush tip, so you can do big watercolor washes or finer detailed work.
- Unlike the knock-offs the craft stores sell (which drip everywhere), Stampin’ Up’s Aqua Painters have a stopper inside the tip to allow water to flow only when you squeeze the barrel.
- You can add any kind of liquid to an Aqua Painter – water, rubbing alcohol, bleach, etc.
- They last forever! I have had this same set of Aqua Painters for over 10 years.
- They are wonderful for shading your stamped images.
- Want to “smear” color in a stamped image? Aqua Painters are perfect!
- You don’t have to be a water color artist to use them.
I am definitely NOT a water color artist. I have always struggled with it. Now I’m not going to sit here and tell you that Aqua Painters have turned me into a water color expert. I still have to practice it and get the hang of it, but for some of the simple techniques that I like to do (there is a reason I call this SIMPLY SIMPLE Stamping), the Aqua Painters are the best!
In the first video in Aqua Painter August, I am going to talk about the liquid you put inside your Aqua Painter. Should you use water? Should you use rubbing alcohol? I will show you on 5 different types of white cardstock that Stampin’ Up offers so you can see what liquid works best.
Today’s 2-Minute video is longer than 2 minutes but there was just so much to share!
Be sure to add Aqua Painters or any of our white cardstock to your next order! Just click a pic!
Last month, I shared the Carols of Christmas stamp set and guess what? You can ORDER IT NOW! Yep, Stampin’ Up offered this set as little Christmas bonus for you. Get a jump start on your Christmas cards this year with this wonderful stamp set and matching framelits!
I do want to point out something you may not have noticed about the framelits. They are not all Christmas themed. Do you see that border (over on the right)? What a GREAT framelit to give any card a beautiful extra touch of class. It’s perfect! Oh, and the 2 corner framelits will give the same effect. The trees, well, you know those are going to be perfect for your masculine cards. The moon & stars and the little leaves will be perfect all year long. So, all that to say, this bundle isn’t just for Christmas! Enjoy it long after the holidays are over!

Thanks Marsha! I do like to get to the point my videos so that you can get back to stamping.
Always learning something new here thanks Connie
I love hearing that, Betty!
Loved your video! Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to try this.
I hope you give a try!
Loved this video! Can’t wait until next Tues. this going to be a fun month:)
So happy to hear you are excited about it!
Thanks Connie for your tips today on the different affect of water vs. alcohol. What great info to have at your fingertips.
Thanks Evelyn!
Thanks, Connie! I wasn’t sure about using the alcohol, so now I have to try it!
I would recommend storing them “tip up” just be on the safe side.
Love my Tuesday tips!!! Thank you … as always you are so much fun to watch.
GREAT Video and THANK YOU for trying all the different papers with both (alcohol & water!)! LOVE your videos too! Short and succinct! I ALWAYS learn something new!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips Connie. Glad to know that we should store those aqua painters with the tip up. I was planning to empty out the rubbing alcohol as I thought it might be too strong to leave in the tube.
I’ve had no issues.
THANK YOU so much for this video, Connit. I would never have thought about using the alcohol. Your examples speak for themselves ?????
Can you keep the alcohol in the aqua pens or should you empty them everytime after use? Love the tips! Jean
Yes, you can. Just store them with the brushes up (stand the Aqua Painters up). I have had no problems at all and I have had my Aqua Painters for years. 🙂
Love this series! So many demonstrators focus solely on new stuff, but it’s great to have such detailed recommendations and techniques for an old favorite that has sat unused! Never heard about the alcohol or bleach – thanks so much!
Thanks! Aqua Painters have been around a long time but still one of the best tools. It’s a hidden gem in our catalog!
