2-Minute Tuesday Tip Video – Converting Wood Stamps to Clear Mount

Over the last couple weeks I shared a 5-part series using the Stylized Birthday single stamp.  Many of you wondered where I got this stamp in clear mount since it was only available in wood mount.

I actually converted this stamp to a clear mount and today I am going to share with you how to do this.  It’s so easy!

Let me apologize for not being able to show you how to attach the sticker.  Oh how I wish I had thought about doing this video BEFORE I actually converted the stamp but I hope that it all makes sense.

I had an AWESOME birthday yesterday!  Lots of cards and well wishes here on my blog. Thank you guys for making me feel so special!  I truly appreciate that!

Mr. Awesome took me out to a REALLY nice dinner at one of our new favorite restaurants called The Drake.  It’s very retro (so you know I loved that!) and the food, well, let me just it is the BEST meal I have ever had in Oklahoma City.  Just unbelievable and nothing ordinary.  Our favorite was our appetizer – hushpuppies wrapped in very thin ham and dipped in honey butter drizzled with a spicy sauce.  It was like nothing I had ever had before.  Grilled salmon with mustard seed and roasted asparagus.  Okay…. anyone hungry now?  Was too full for dessert at the Drake but not to worry. Mr. Awesome knew JUST what I would want later on.

The BEST ice cream in Oklahoma City!  Braum’s is our local ice cream store and it’s everyone’s favorite.  A couple of weeks ago they made my life complete by adding my favorite cookie to ice cream – Circle Animal cookies!!!  It’s the most amazing thing EVER!  I have been searching for it ever since it came out and they are always sold out of it.  We had to go to 3 different Braum’s trying to find it!  I was one happy girl last night.  But wait, there’s more!

Came home, turned on the TV and my most favorite episode of Law & Order: SVU (my all time favorite TV show).  It is the episode with Carol Burnett.  If you are an SVU fan, you know EXACTLY what episode I’m talking about.  The “Birdie” episode.  Carol Burnett plays a sweet older woman who is actually a murderess.  She was amazing in it (as in nominated for an Emmy for this episode).  A great way to end my night with my favorite actress staring on my favorite show.

If you own any of the following ink pads, please stand by for this very important Public Service Announcement:

  • Cucumber Crush
  • Delightful Dijon
  • Mint Macaron
  • Tip Top Taupe
  • Watermelon Wonder

These colors will be retiring and gone for good on May 31st BUT (and it’s a big BUT for a reason) the cardstock and ink refills tend to sell out WAY before that date.  I’m talking FAST here, my friends.

I wanted to share this info early so that you can stock up on the cardstock and more importantly, the ink refills, NOW.  I can’t begin to tell you how many requests I get from viewers who are trying to get their hands on these items after they retire.  Don’t fall victim to high prices on eBay for these items.

Remember, Sale-a-Bration is still going on so why not get a free stamp set or a fabulous accessory for FREE with your order?  It’s the perfect time to order these essentials!

Order yours today!  Click a pic!  Don’t let these get away because once they’re gone, they’re gone!

How do you get them OFF the wood blocks?

This tip was more for wood mount stamps before you’ve put them on the block. I’ve never done tried to remove a stamp from the wood personally but I hear that you can put them in the microwave for a few seconds to warm up the glue. They say this helps remove the stamp and the foam. I can’t really tell you if this works or not. And some older wood stamps it may not work at all. I’m not sure you can get the sticker off the block but you might try adding some vinyl cling (you can get this at fabric stores) and convert it that way. Hope that helps!

There are Stamper’s who have trouble getting their Clear Mount Stamps to adhere to clear blocks. One of their solutions is to just not put on the labels. What is the point of having a label to help you and not use it? This tip would help them use the labels on their stamps and know they will stick. Thanks for sharing, Connie:)

Love this idea! I was wondering how you did that. I have the stamp and the clear block so I’m set to go.

I suggest making a notebook with a copy of the cover of ALL stamp sets in ones possession in alphabetical order. This makes it easy to find a sentiment or other stamp set piece. I think this is a very helpful tip!!!

Sounds like you had a most wonderful night out! Dinner and ice cream sound delicious! Love my SVU! Carol Burnett played a really good bad guy, didn’t she! Love your uncounted stamp and I too love the stamp sticker! Just makes stamping easier!
