Make It Monday – Somebunny Sweet Easter Card

MAKE IT MONDAY - FREE tutorial at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com

I just love sharing tutorials with you on Monday.  It’s a great way to start the week with a card that is ready to create, the measurements are laid out for you.  Easy easy.  I also love that I have a few demonstrator friends who love to share their creations with me…. and I share with them.  It just makes stamping more fun when we share.

My friend Tami created this card and I wanted to share it with you because it was just too cute not to share.  I absolutely love it, don’t you?  That bunny is just so adorable!

This will be a perfect card to send for Easter.  I hope you will give this card a try.  To make it easy, I have a tutorial to share for today’s Make It Monday!

I had such a great weekend!

Mr. Awesome and I went to see Christina in her Sooner Theatre debut of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels the Musical”.  Guys, she was awesome!  She played Jolene from good ol’ Oklahoma.  A fun-loving girl who has LOTS of money thanks to her ex-husbands.  “I should probably warn you the only fly in the syrup might be that my last couple of husbands ain’t exactly been declared ‘legally’ dead yet.”

She has tricked Lawrence into marrying her and he and Freddie have to get a little sneaky in order to get rid of her.  Christina really has a gift for great facial expressions on stage and I really loved watching her perform and sing.  That girl has some PIPES!

Had to get a picture after the show.  This is Lucas Ross (who played Freddie), myself and Christina .  I have to brag on Lucas for a minute.  He’s basically our local celebrity.  I watch him all the time on the local morning show, Rise & Shine.  He just makes me laugh and I adore him. Well, getting to know him after the show, I see that he is just as sweet and lovable in person.  He and Christina have had a blast working together and I can see why — they share the same sense of humor.  He was fantastic as the slimy Freddie.

So, your challenge is to create something with this layout and then mail it to a friend!  What good is a card that you keep to yourself?

My birthday was Monday and the celebrating has continued not just with ice cream every night but now with some weekend birthday cards!

I created this bright and fun card for a friend of mine using the Sweet Stack stamp set.

Does it look familiar?  Check out page 19 of the Stampin’ Up catalog.  Does anyone else use the catalog for inspiration?

I love adding embossing to cards.  The Festive embossing folder was perfect for my card.  And of course, bling!  Red Glimmer Paper and the gold sequin trim!

Birthday Blast is one of my favorite bundles in the Occasions catalog.  Sharon created this fabulous card.

The Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Paper Stack is absolutely gorgeous, isn’t it?

Cards are never complete without bling!  The star thinlit was created with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  Trust me when I say this card is amazing in person!

Christina has been busy over the past month working with the Sooner Theatre in Norman, OK on a fabulous musical, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”.  You might know the movie (starring Michael Cain and Steve Martin).  GREAT movie and so funny but the musical is even better. Tonight is opening night and Mr. Awesome and I will be there, 3rd row!

Christina is playing Jolene, a girl from…. wait for it…. Oklahoma!  The song that she sings in the show…. wait for it….Oklahoma!  Not the Oklahoma you might be thinking.  This song is hilarious.  Her character is super sweet on the outside but a vicious gold digger on the inside.

She also gets to be in a lot of the ensemble numbers too and we are so excited to go see her shine tonight!

I am going to close up the blog for the weekend but I will see you all back here on Monday!

Have a wonderful weekend my stamping peeps!

Make It in Minutes FLASH CARD 2.0 – Beehives & Bumblebees – Video No. 78

MAKE IT IN MINUTES - a new video series from Connie Stewart, featuring great cards and gifts made in minutes! Check it out at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com

Ever since I saw the Hexagon Embossing Folder I thought it looked like a beehive.  That sweet little bumblebee in the Dragonfly Dreams bundle was just the right size to go inside my Oval Framelit beehive.

This Flash Card 2.0 was just the right size to create that beehive AND I had enough scrap to cut out my bees.

The Gold Wink of Stella is a must on this card because it added that beautiful shimmer to the wings and separates the colors from the Crushed Curry beehive.

Gotta stamp the inside of the card too!

Let me share today’s video with you….

Here the measurements for my card in case you missed them:

  • Thick Whisper White – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”
  • Crushed Curry – 2 ⅛” x 5 ½”, cut down to 4 ¼

Another super quick and super cute card!  I just love how it turned out!  Well, my friends, I am off to the orthodontist.  I have been wearing my Invisalign for 4 months.  3 months to go! Wahoo!   After that I will wear a set of them for 6 months to make sure everything stays put.  I can really see a difference but I must say, I will be glad when I am done.

See you tomorrow my stamping friends!!!

We had a great weekend here at my house.  Last night my family came over to celebrate my birthday.  I have the best family ever.  We had dinner, sat by the fire pit, and got caught up on life.  So relaxing.  I loved it.  No birthday is complete without cake and my mom brought my FAVORITE coconut cake.  I love all things coconut but this cake is my favorite.  I think I was in a sugar coma when I went to bed.  Today is my actual birthday so Mr. Awesome is taking me to dinner so the celebration continues.  I guess this is the benefit of turning 50.  You get to celebrate all month long.

Let me share a couple of cards with you using the sketch for this weekend….

As you know, I work with a few other demonstrators on the Weekend Challenges and Sharon blew me away with this card!

The Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper is such a gorgeous paper.  I love the soft colors and the watercolor look.

The Stylish Stems Framelits are so detailed and pretty.  It finished off this card perfectly.

I get a lot of requests for masculine cards.  They are something we all struggle with.  Jackie shared this card with me and I thought it was awesome.

I love the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder in the background.

Whether it’s for a boy or a man, this card is great for the sport guy in your life!

I absolutely LOVED the cards for this weekend.  I have so enjoyed working with Jackie and Sharon (and Mimi too) on the Stampin’ Gals Gone Wild Weekend Challenges.  We have a ton of fun working together and creating together.  Even though the Weekend Challenge will be coming to an end next week, our working relationship won’t stop. Starting in April, we have something brand new for you!  It’s SO cool!

As I said, a busy weekend ahead.  Monday I celebrate the BIG 5-0!  Wahoo!  Honestly, birthdays aren’t a big deal to me but I think turning 50 is pretty awesome!  My Mom, my sister and her family are all coming over for dinner on Sunday.  I have the BEST family ever and we don’t get together as often as we would like but holidays and birthdays are always a good reason to get together.

Have a wonderful weekend my stamping peeps!  See you all back here on Monday!

MAKE IT IN MINUTES Mini Series: STYLIZED BIRTHDAY – Card #4

MAKE IT IN MINUTES - a new video series from Connie Stewart, featuring great cards and gifts made in minutes! Check it out at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com

I hope that you have enjoyed the MAKE IT IN MINUTES Stylized Birthday Mini Series. I honestly feel like I could keep on creating cards using this stamp set and Designer Series Paper.  I love that I can make such beautiful cards using matching and minimal supplies.

My final card to share is my favorite of all of them.  Saving the best for last!

This sheet of the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper just screams Happy Birthday to me but it’s that little bow on the side that just makes this card beautiful.

All the cards in this series use the same supplies – the Stylized Birthday stamp, blushing bride cardstock, Falling in Love Designer Series Paper, along with the ribbon.  The idea is to keep it easy so that you can make it in minutes!  Let me share the 4th video in my series STYLIZED BIRTHDAY…

Here the measurements for the card in case you missed them:

  • Blushing Bride –  8 ½” x  5 ½”, score and fold at 4 ¼”
  • Very Vanilla – 3″ x 3″ (or 2 ¾”x 2 ¾” if not using Framelits)
  • Very Vanilla – ¾” x 5 ½”
  • Falling in Love Designer Series Paper – 2 ¼” x 5 ½”
  • Blushing Bride Satin Ribbon – 11″ plus a small bow
