Tomorrow I will be sharing with you for a video for Stampin’ Gals Gone Wild Wednesday! I thought you might enjoy a little sneak peek at it!
I just love how this card turned out and I have SEVERAL fun tips to share with you on creating this card. I designed this card for Ginny’s teachers. It was nice to create a card that really said “summer”. It’s bright, cheery, and just made me smile.
Today I want to share something on a personal note, if that’s okay….
One year ago today, my life was forever changed. On May 20, 2013 a F5 tornado hit Moore, Oklahoma, my hometown. Even though my home sustained only minor damage (fence panels and a shed), my heart sustained horrendous damage. I will never forget the hour as Ginny and I sat helplessly watching the news and tracking the tornado as it was coming closer and closer to our home. As a Mom, I kept up good appearances for my daughter and acted as if it was going to miss us… but I could see the path it was on. Meanwhile Christina sat huddled in the orchestra pit with other students unaware that this was no tornado drill. They had no idea what was happening just one block away from the school and I was at home unsure if the high school was spared.
Twenty-four lives were lost that day – 9 of them elementary children whose schools took a direct hit. Today, I want to give a shout out to the AMAZING teachers of ALL Moore Public Schools and the sacrifice they made that day. These teachers selflessly put their students above their own lives and safety. These teachers sang songs, prayed (knowing they could be fired for doing so), and comforted the kids as they waited out the storm…unaware if their OWN children and families were safe. Even as they emerged from the rubble, these teachers sprang into action, gathering their students like a mother duck gathering her ducklings. These teachers were badly injured but that didn’t matter. What mattered to them at that moment was their students, counting each one, making sure they were all accounted for. Heroes. That is what they are!
As I created this card today, I am reminded of the HUGE sacrifice our teachers give our children each and every day… not just in the eye of a storm but on a daily basis. Their salaries are not big but their hearts are. THANK YOU to all the teachers out there who share their hearts and love with our kids. We love and appreciate you more than we can say!
It’s going to be a hard day for all of us today and we remember, reflect, and as we continue to rebuild but one thing you can say about Okies… we are OKLAHOMA STRONG!
Thank you for letting me share my heart with you today.
What a fun weekend this was! Sorry about not posting on Friday. I was gone all day on a stamping adventure with my best friend, Kim. I must admit, I don’t really like to stamp with other people. I don’t know why really. I just prefer to stamp alone. What’s funny, Kim is the same way. Maybe that is why we do great stamping together? We don’t really pay much attention to what the other is doing but we do show off our final creations to each other.
Kim was working away on Valentine cards while I was working on Thank You cards for my online customers (so if you’re reading this, act surprised when it comes in the mail). I have had the Everything Eleanor stamp set for a long time and decided it was time to get it inky.
I love the simplicity of this card but more than that, I love the COLORS of this card!!!
Right now it is 22° with single digit wind chills. Yeah, I needed to stamp in SPRING colors. I am so tired of the cold. I know most of you, even those of you in typical warm states, are pretty darn cold right now too.
Pistachio Pudding, Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar, and Crisp Cantaloupe. Yum. Now I’m hungry (we have way too many colors with food in the name). I punched out the Petite Petals flowers and the flower from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack. A dot of Silver Dazzling Details and my card is done.
Want a video? Join me tomorrow and I will have one. This one is SUPER quick and I know you’ll like that.
I am so busy right now that SUPER quick is definitely necessary. In the words of Truvy, “I am as busy as a one-armed paper hanger!” We open “Steel Magnolias” next Thursday and the entire cast is feeling the pressure. It’s coming together and I know it will be great but it’s still very stressful. The theater’s photographer is coming tomorrow to take pictures and I will post them as soon as I get them.
I also had a great weekend hanging out with Mr. Awesome! Both my kids were gone this weekend at a church retreat so we hung out with Kim and her Mr. Awesome, Gary, on Friday night. Watched movies and shared some wine and cheese. Just a nice relaxing time. So much fun. Saturday, was spent shopping at Hobby Lobby for fun decor for my stamp room. I found the fabric for my curtains, some retro wall art, and some accessories for my desk. On our way home, we had to make a grocery run and look what we saw!
THE OSCAR MEYER WEINER MOBILE!
How cool is that? I had never seen it before! It totally made my day. 🙂
But Sunday it was back to the theater for a 4 ½ hour rehearsal. That sounded like an eternity for me but you know, it was one of the best rehearsals I’ve had so far. The director pulled me aside after rehearsal and said, “You are rocking the crap out of this show.” lol That really made my day! He’s a great director with great vision. It’s been a blast working with him.
This is what I call a FUN FUN FUN weekend! I hope yours was amazing as well! I hope MONDAY is fabulous….just like you!

It’s Friday and you know what that means! It’s time to kick back and relax because it’s the weekend AND it’s Labor Day weekend! EVEN BETTER! What a great time to share with you another FLASH CARD in my video series. This card is just so much fun and you could change it up so many different ways. The Daffodil Delight cardstock is 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and I scored it at 2 1/8″ on both sides (leaving 4 1/4″ in the middle). Cut the Flash Card pieces – Whisper White cardstock to 1 1/4″ and the Tempting Turquoise cardstock at 1 3/8″. NOTE: If you haven’t had a chance to watch the first video in the FLASH CARD series, click on VIDEOS and watch it. It will explain how I used a simple template to create 8 very different cards using a quick and easy cutting technique. Keep the Flash Card pieces ready to go and the next time you need a card in a flash, you’ll be set!
Spent the weekend working on my March Tutorial and March Stamp Club projects. I am SO excited about how they turned out! I probably way over think things but I keep changing and working a project until I am satisfied it’s the best I can bring. 🙂 I hope you like them too.
The Easter Egg Throne is my favorite (although for some reason my white cardstock looks pink in the picture). It’s made with the Bitty Box Big Shot die. This die makes this project come together SUPER fast and hey, that’s what we love, don’t we? Love the bling! Every Easter egg should have some bling!
The Easter Basket was inspired by LeAnne Pugliese at weeinklings
Mine is a tad different than LeAnne’s project – not because her’s isn’t awesome, but somehow when I sat down to make it, I went off on my own doing my own thing.
The Spring card is my take on a card that we created at the Stampin’ Up Leadership conference last month. I just LOVED the card and made a couple changes to make it my own.
If you are a member of my Stamp Club, you will be making these projects in March! I just completed one of the projects for our March stamp club! I love this Easter Egg Throne! Every good egg deserves a throne, don’t you think? Especially if there is jewelry inside…. but alas, this one has only has jelly beans.
I used the Bitty Box die and Beautiful Wings Embosslit for the Big Shot. A 1 3/4″ punch in the lid, add a little more cardstock, and you have a throne!
I know my Stamp Club girls are going to LOVE this project! I can’t wait to teach it to you!
Be watching the posts for all the March stamp club projects. I am putting the final touches on them now! It’s going to be an awesome Club!!!
