Some things to remember about the challenge….

  • The colors mean nothing –get creative!

So, your challenge is to create something with this layout and then mail it to a friend!  What good is a card that you keep to yourself?

My birthday was Monday and the celebrating has continued not just with ice cream every night but now with some weekend birthday cards!

I created this bright and fun card for a friend of mine using the Sweet Stack stamp set.

Does it look familiar?  Check out page 19 of the Stampin’ Up catalog.  Does anyone else use the catalog for inspiration?

I love adding embossing to cards.  The Festive embossing folder was perfect for my card.  And of course, bling!  Red Glimmer Paper and the gold sequin trim!

Birthday Blast is one of my favorite bundles in the Occasions catalog.  Sharon created this fabulous card.

The Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Paper Stack is absolutely gorgeous, isn’t it?

Cards are never complete without bling!  The star thinlit was created with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  Trust me when I say this card is amazing in person!

Christina has been busy over the past month working with the Sooner Theatre in Norman, OK on a fabulous musical, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”.  You might know the movie (starring Michael Cain and Steve Martin).  GREAT movie and so funny but the musical is even better. Tonight is opening night and Mr. Awesome and I will be there, 3rd row!

Christina is playing Jolene, a girl from…. wait for it…. Oklahoma!  The song that she sings in the show…. wait for it….Oklahoma!  Not the Oklahoma you might be thinking.  This song is hilarious.  Her character is super sweet on the outside but a vicious gold digger on the inside.

She also gets to be in a lot of the ensemble numbers too and we are so excited to go see her shine tonight!

I am going to close up the blog for the weekend but I will see you all back here on Monday!

Have a wonderful weekend my stamping peeps!

I get a lot of requests for masculine cards.  They are something we all struggle with.  Jackie shared this card with me and I thought it was awesome.

I love the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder in the background.

Whether it’s for a boy or a man, this card is great for the sport guy in your life!

I absolutely LOVED the cards for this weekend.  I have so enjoyed working with Jackie and Sharon (and Mimi too) on the Stampin’ Gals Gone Wild Weekend Challenges.  We have a ton of fun working together and creating together.  Even though the Weekend Challenge will be coming to an end next week, our working relationship won’t stop. Starting in April, we have something brand new for you!  It’s SO cool!

As I said, a busy weekend ahead.  Monday I celebrate the BIG 5-0!  Wahoo!  Honestly, birthdays aren’t a big deal to me but I think turning 50 is pretty awesome!  My Mom, my sister and her family are all coming over for dinner on Sunday.  I have the BEST family ever and we don’t get together as often as we would like but holidays and birthdays are always a good reason to get together.

Have a wonderful weekend my stamping peeps!  See you all back here on Monday!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  I’m not Irish so I don’t know a lot about this holiday but a friend of mine share this on Facebook and I found it very interesting.  I thought I would pass it along.

A wee bit of “St. Patrick” history. He wasn’t Irish. He was an English slave to the Irish when he was younger. The Irish were Druids. When he found his freedom he had a burden for the lost souls in Ireland. He went back to the place where he was a slave as a missionary and brought them Jesus. The Druids worshiped nature. He used the 3 leaf clover to explain the trinity to them. One plant 3 leaves. Just like the Father, Son & Holy Spirit. One God three entities. Then some one brought a 4 leaf clover to him. “explain this”. His response was that this is you when you accept Christ. They live and commune with your soul. So that is how the 4 leaf clover is “lucky”.

Another historical thing we see on St Patrick’s day is the phrase “May the luck of the Irish be with you”… but it’s not at all about luck! During the great potato famine many Irish moved to America. They were hard workers. Any business that has Irish employees prospered because they were driven people to succeed in their new country. The business men would tell each other “may the luck of the Irish be with you” meaning may you be lucky enough to be able to hire many Irish so you will succeed.

So there ya go. St.Patrick’s has nothing historical about pinching people when they are not wearing green or drinking green beer.

It’s back to taxes this weekend for the Stewart. Don’t you wish you were me?  Well, as the meme says, “I’d Rather Stamp!”  That’s what IRS really means…. at least in my house.  We just didn’t get as much done last weekend as we hoped.  Too many interruptions I guess.

Have a wonderful weekend my stamping peeps!  See you all back here on Monday!

Happy birthday to ME!!!!  My birthday present came early!!!  I have wanted a fire pit for my back patio for the last year.  Mr. Awesome wasn’t picking up the hint so I ordered my own last week.  (Please tell me I am not the only one who has to order their own presents.)  My fire pit wasn’t expected for another week according to the website but there was a knock on my door and this HUGE box was sitting there!  It weighed about a million pounds.  Maybe a million and one.  I decided to leave it there knowing NO ONE could steal this off my porch.

Mr. Awesome came home early to put it together so we could use it right away.  I had been reading reviews on different fire pits and how hard they were to put together.  Imagine our surprise when this one came straight out of the box looking like this.  No assembly!  YAY!  We just poured in the lava rocks and turned it on.  Last night, we turned on some music, started up the fire, and enjoyed a nice night with a warm fire.  I am ONE happy camper right now!

Oh, and I just have to brag about my great deal.  I saw this fire pit on a website for $788.  OUCH!  Way out of my price range.  Did some digging and found the same one (just a lighter tile on top) for $220.  WAHOO!!!  I love bargain hunting!  It’s a girl thing.  It’s all about the hunt for the good deal and the best price and when you find it, you feel you have conquered the world of retail.

Have a wonderful weekend my stamping peeps!  See you all back here on Monday!

The Stewarts will be taking a little road trip on Saturday.  Ginny was chosen to audition for a Broadway Boot Camp by Kristin Chenoweth (if you think her name sounds familiar she is a big Broadway star from Oklahoma).  Keep your fingers crossed for her!  I would love to see her have the opportunity to attend this camp.  I don’t know when we will hear back but you can bet that I will share when I hear.

I’m trying to get over a head cold that I picked up while on my trip. <sigh> It seems to  happen more often than not when I’m on a plane.  I promise to take extra good care of myself so I can get back to stamping and creating some fun videos for you.

Have a wonderful weekend my stamping peeps!  See you all back here on Monday!
