Inlaid Embossing Birthday Card for a dear friend

Monday was my upline, Leslie’s, birthday! I learned a new technique the other day (thanks Alison!) called the Inlaid Embossing technique and I wanted to give it a try. I really like how the card turned out – very bright and cheery!

I used a Stampin‘ Up stamp set that is one of my favs, Circle Circus. I LOVE LOVE LOVE anything with polka dots and I especially love pink and black polka dots (for those of you who have seen my stamp room, you know that it’s totally decked out in pink and black polka dots). I used Melon Mambo on today’s card.

I also used an Impressions Folder, Square Lattice, to create the inlay look of this card. I must admit when I first saw the Square Lattice folder I wasn’t overly impressed but as I have used it I have learned it is a must have in paper crafting! With this folder, it’s all about texture and creating a fabric look. Most other folders add some sort of image but this one has become my “go-to” folder. 🙂

Hope this card inspires you today!!!

  1. Really nice card. I love the effect that the inlaid technique has on the melon mambo and the black images just pop out at you. I agree I was taken at first with square lattice, but now I use it lots. Thanks for sharing.
