Today’s Make It Monday tutorial is nothing more than FUN and FESTIVE!  It truly says TIME TO PARTY with those bright colors and that bold dotted pattern.  Love that splash of Lemon Lime Twist and how about that Ombre ribbon?!  

I have a very special 21-year old to give this card to today.

It’s true!  We are partying in the Stewart house today!  My sweet baby girl, Christina, is no longer my baby girl.  She is a full-blown adult!  Yep, today my oldest daughter turns 21.  Wow.  No words for where the time went.

It’s funny, she has looked forward to this day, yet at the same time, it’s hitting her that she is truly an adult.  She has to make her own doctor’s appointments, she has to talk to the car mechanic instead of Dad doing it for her (yes, she has to do this today).  Kids can’t WAIT to be a grown-up but when they see it coming, suddenly, things look a little more scary.  Especially college kids.  The future is now staring them in the face and it’s not always what they dreamed it would be.

Christina is excited about being an adult but I think she’s a little nervous about it too.  I must brag on her.  She is one SMART girl.  I wish I had her smarts at 21!  She has a wonderful plan for the future and is wise enough to plan for obstacles that might come along.  She is debt-free (and plans to stay that way), knows what she wants to do as a career, but is grounded.  She’s independent, strong willed, and determined….but every once in awhile I see that little 5 year old girl who just wants to snuggle with Mom.

Well, I’m in tears…. how about we talk about a card while I pull myself together….

 So tonight we are going to celebrate both Christina and Ginny’s birthdays at The Melting Pot.  They are bringing some friends and we are sure to be just a little rowdy.  It’s what we do.  I am sure this meal will not be Weight Watchers friendly but birthday celebrations trump everything.

Quick update on the laundry room.  Wellllll, things didn’t go quite as planned.  We decided to paint the cabinets instead of stain them and let’s just say that process isn’t as simple as “putting a couple coats of paint” on.  It’s got several steps.  It sounds like the laundry room remodel will also have several steps.  So for now, my laundry room is a mess but the cabinets are going to look awesome!  Coat #3 will have to wait until tomorrow and the walls will probably be done either later this week or the weekend.  The good news is that WORK IS IN PROGRESS!  Wahoo!  I will share before and after photos when it’s done.
