Guess what I did yesterday?  Cleaned my stamp studio.  I honestly don’t know how I have been able to do anything in my room.  I also had a wonderful girl, Morgan, coming over who just got engaged and she asked if I would help create her wedding invitations.  I was so tickled to be able to do this for her.  Morgan was in “9 to 5 the Musical” with me and I absolutely fell in love with this girl.  To design these wedding invites is going to be a lot of fun with her.

My priorities got a little off whack and I do have some thank you cards to get mailed out but I needed a clean space to work on them.  Ahhh, it’s clean and ready for me to work again.  If you placed an order with me, your thank you will be in the mail over the weekend.  🙂

That’s it for me!  Have a wonderful weekend my sweet friends!  I hope you know how much I love and appreciate you all!  Mwah!  See ya Monday!

If you thought it looked like a Flash Card… you are correct!  I cut the butterfly from the Basic Black layer.

Are you ready to learn how?  Here we go!

TEACH me That! A new series by the Technique Design Team. Learn a new technique every Thursday at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com.

  • Die cut your favorite Framelit or Thinlit from cardstock.  I used the Butterflies Thinlits.

  • Place the die cut face down on your Silicone Craft Sheet.  Cover the die cut with packing tape.  If you need to add more to cover it all, it’s fine.  The seams of the packing tape won’t show.

  • Trim away the excess tape.  This is super easy to do because the die cut works with you as you cut.TEACH me that! Learn the Packing Tape Glitter Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 13, 2017 blog post
  • Now comes the fun part!  Sprinkle glitter onto the packing tape. Prepare to ooh and ahh.

  • Flip the image over and really press the packing tape into the glitter.  Just look at that amazing image!

I do hope that everyone is enjoying the Teach Me That series.

There was some confusion last week when I shared the ZenDoodle technique.  Some of you may have seen the project on someone else’s blog.  I should have mentioned it on my first post but I am on the Technique Design Team and we do share the techniques and projects we create with each other.  Sometimes we create new cards and other times we will share each other’s projects.  The goal is to teach you new techniques and I hope that the Technique Design Team is doing just that.

So, if you see projects here at Simply Simple Stamping and on another blog, no reason to be alarmed. We are just demonstrators who LOVE to share what we love with each other and on each other’s blogs.

So yesterday I told you that I attempted homemade yogurt made in the microwave and promised an update.  I am so excited to tell you that it worked….for the most part.  lol

It tastes great but the texture isn’t quite what I wanted (a little grainy) so I will try it again.  The good news is that it’s edible and adding some blueberries and a tiny bit of sweetener was all it needed.  It’s very fresh-tasting and doesn’t have any of that icky aftertaste.  I am not a big fan of yogurt but THIS is amazing.

I did learn, after some Google searching, that microwave yogurt is a recipe that you have to practice so I will make some adjustments next time.  The price was awesome!  I made 6 servings for under $2 and I can add what I want to it.  It’s always fun to try something new, am I right?  I think I will stick to stamping though.  I am not that great in the kitchen.

2-Minute Tuesday Tip – Vellum Tip #1 – Heat Embossing

2-Minute Tuesday Tip - Vellum Tip #1 - Heat Emboss - check out the video at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com and look for the April 11, 2017

I have a fun little 2-Minute Tip mini series for you.  Over the next several weeks I am going to share quick tips on using Vellum Cardstock.  Many of us used vellum WAY back when and it’s true…. it was difficult to work with.  It was super thin and really delicate.

2-Minute Tuesday Tip - Vellum Tip #1 - Heat Emboss - check out the video at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com and look for the April 11, 2017

Vellum gives an amazing softness to a project but we’ve kind of turned our back on it.  Many don’t know that Stampin’ Up’s vellum is CARDSTOCK vellum so it’s sturdy and much easier to work with.

2-Minute Tuesday Tip - Vellum Tip #1 - Heat Emboss - check out the video at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com and look for the April 11, 2017

Today I want to share with you how to HEAT EMBOSS using Vellum Cardstock.  A lot of crafters never think about heat embossing on vellum because it’s so thin but as I said, Stampin’ Up offers a cardstock thickness of vellum and it holds up very well to the heat too.

The measurements for my card are:

  • Soft Sky Cardstock – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, score and fold at 4 ¼”
  • Very Vanilla – 4 ½” x 3″
  • Vellum Cardstock – 4 ¼” x 2 ¾”

I am excited about sharing some fun ways to use Vellum.  Who knows how many tips I will have but I plan on at least 4.  It really is a lovely medium to work with.

So, I am stepping way out of my comfort zone today.  I am making homemade Greek yogurt!  While I was in Minneapolis, my friend Kelly showed me how.  Oh my gosh was it GOOD!  You actually make it in the microwave.  It’s cooling now and then I have to strain it.  It won’t be ready until later tonight and I hope it’s worth the wait.

I’m not going to share a recipe since I have no idea how it’s going to turn out yet.  I will let you know.

I am very excited about it though.  I have some blueberries just itching to be thrown in!

Well, that’s it for me today.  Hope you have a fabulous Tuesday my sweet stampin’ peeps!!!

Happy Monday everyone!  I am so excited to be back here on the blog AND to be back home.  I spent the last week in Minneapolis, Minnesota for the Stampin’ Up OnStage conference.  I had the BEST time.  I will share more below but i wanted to get started with today’s Make It Monday project.  It was inspired by a card that a friend made using one of the new stamp sets that will be in the new catalog.  I changed the stamp set, changed the colors as well, and voila!  I created a quick and easy masculine birthday card!

Masculine cards are always a challenge but just wait until you see what stamp set I used to create this manly card.  There’s nothing masculine about the stamp set at all!  It’s the That’s the Tag stamp set from the Occasions catalog (page 23).  It’s a bundle as well but I chose to use just the stamps for this card.

As I mentioned earlier, I had a great time in Minneapolis.  I never even thought about the fact that Mall of America was in Minneapolis!  I have always wanted to go there.  I’m not much of a “shopper” so we pretty much just wandered around.  We did stop for dinner there on Saturday night because I had to try a Minneapolis staple – the Juicy Lucy.  I ate it before I remembered to take a photo so I swiped this one off the internet but check this out!  The inside of the burger is filled with cheese.  I was in beef & cheese heaven!!!  I have to tell you, my stomach is growling as I look at this photo.  No trip to Minnesota would be complete without Cheese Curds either. Here in Oklahoma we have fried cheese, sure, but Cheese Curds are the rich uncle to fried cheese.  The cheese was so smooth and yummy.

The conference itself was incredible.  It always is.  I have seen the new catalog and although I can’t show it to you yet, I can tell you that you are going to LOVE it!  There are so many new fun stamps and framelits waiting for you!!!

A highlight for me was meeting some of my team members for the first time.  I had a blast hanging out with Mary Beth and Tracie!  These two had me laughing and smiling all day.  I had other team members who attended some of the other venues that Stampin’ Up hosted and I have been stalking Facebook to catch some photos.  It looks like everyone had a marvelous time.  That makes my heart happy.

Before I close I do have something very important to tell you. A couple of weeks ago, my email server, Cox Communications, sent me a message saying they were going to shut off my email address due to….. wait for it…. “lack of activity for over 150 days”.  You have GOT to be kidding me?  I send dozens of emails every DAY.  What do you mean lack of activity?  I contacted Cox before I left to check on this and they assured me that the email was sent in error.  Well, you guessed it….they shut down my email address.  Anyone who contacted me got a message saying that the account was deleted.  Thank heavens I have a back-up email address but I was one unhappy camper.  I spent an hour on the phone with them and they had no clue why this happened.  It’s back on but I still think a lot of my emails aren’t coming in.  With that being said, if you contacted me last week and you haven’t heard back from me, would you send me another email?  I would really appreciate it and I apologize for the inconvenience.  I think it may be time to shop for a new email provider.  I am not impressed with Cox right now.  They really didn’t fix the problem… Mr. Awesome did.

Well, my rant is done and as you can imagine, after being gone for a week, I have a lot to catch up on.  Laundry, emails (those that I could save), and I have a new idea for a 2-Minute Tuesday Tip video I want to share. Join me tomorrow!

TEACH ME THAT! Learn the ZenDoodle Technique

TEACH me That! A new series by the Technique Design Team. Learn a new technique every Thursday at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com.

I am so excited to share my BRAND NEW series, Teach Me That!  Every Thursday I will be sharing a new technique to help take your stamping creativity to a whole new level.  Who’s excited?!!!  I am honored to be working with the Technique Design Team to bring you share new tips & techniques each Thursday.

Today in Teach Me That, I will be showing you how to take an ordinary stamped image and incorporate the look of “adult coloring” to it.  The best part?  It’s easy and FUN!  Warning:  It’s also addicting!

TEACH me That! A new series by the Technique Design Team. Learn a new technique every Thursday at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com.

  • Stamp images randomly on cardstock, filling in as much space as you can.
  • Use a Project Life Journal Pen, fine tip Sharpie or any black pen and trace around all the images. Trace right on the image and/or around the image.  Just doodle and have fun.
  • Be careful not to smear black ink so work from the top to the bottom.
  • If you make a mistake, just doodle over it.
  • Don’t worry if your doodles aren’t perfect.  It’s a doodle.  It’s okay for it not to be perfect.

Other Ideas to ZenDoodle to give each image a different look:

  • Add dots
  • Add squiggles
  • Dotted lines
  • Double trace around an image
  • Bling it up with rhinestones

You’re ready to use the ‘ZenDoodled’ cardstock to create a card.  Here are the measurements for my card:

  • Rich Razzleberry – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, score and fold at 4 ¼”
  • Daffodil Delight – 4 ¼” x 3 ¾”
  • Whisper White – 4” x 3 ½”
  • Pool Party 1 ½” x 3 ½” and White 1 ¼” x 3 ¼” (Triple Banner Punch)

Need any of the items I used on my ZenDoodle card?  Just click a pic to order!

*Also available in Wood Mount

Here’s another version of the ZenDoodle technique.  This one features the Botanical Blooms stamp set.

Here are the measurements for my second card:

  • Flirty Flamingo – 11” x 4 ¼”, score and fold at 5 ½”
  • Flirty Flamingo – 4 ¼” x 1 ½” (Petal Burst Embossing Folder)

PROUD MOM MOMENT!  Wow!  The musical that Christina is in right now (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) got a review on BroadwayWorld.com.  This is a HUGE deal!  It would be like getting one my cards published in a stamping magazine.

Let me share what they said about Christina, who plays Jolene….

“Jolene is the other wealthy woman who finds herself in the middle of Lawrence’s schemes. She is played by Christina Stewart, who brings energy and charisma to spare to the role. Stewart is clearly having a lot of fun with the part and her big song and dance number, “Oklahoma,” is one of the show’s most entertaining.”

Did you see that?  Her big song and dance number is one of the show’s most entertaining!  I am so incredibly proud of her.
