The Stewart girls had a Girls Night Out at the theatre last night.  Our community theatre that we have worked with for many years did “Annie Get Your Gun“.  What a fabulous performance they did!!!

As a huge musical theatre fan, I can’t believe I am admitting this but…. I had never seen this show.  I knew most of the music (“There’s No Business Like Show Business”, Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better”, and “You Can’t Get a Man with a Gun”).

It was so much fun to see so many of my theatre friends in the show.

Juliette, one of the sweetest girls I know, played my daughter in “Exit Laughing

Trevor and I were in “9 to 5 the Musical” last summer.  He kept me laughing… a lot!

My sweet friend Jack was Big Daddy to my Big Mamma in “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Gosh, Harper and I have worked together since 2012!  I have loved watching this girl grow up!

There were about half a dozen more friends but I missed my photo opp.  Every time I see a show there, I get antsy to audition for the next show.  Next season looks interesting!  I just might have to do that.

Before I close, I have something very important to ask you.  If you have placed an order in 2017 and have moved recently OR if you are a Snow Bird who moves between states, would you please log into your Stampin’ Up account and update your address?  Sunday I will be ordering your new Stampin’ Up catalog and I don’t want you to miss out on receiving it.  Shipping costs are outrageous, as you know, and having to ship catalogs twice due to an address change gets expensive.  If you could check your MAILING address (not the shipping address), I would GREATLY appreciate it.

TEACH me That! A new series by the Technique Design Team. Learn a new technique every Thursday at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com.

It’s time for another TEACH Me That!  Today let’s look at heat embossing.  There are a lot of stampers that have seen this technique but aren’t familiar with how to do it….or are afraid to do it.

Are you ready to learn how?  Here we go!

TEACH me that! Learn the Heat Embossing Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 27, 2017 blog post

  • Begin by rubbing the Embossing Buddy over your cardstock. This is a really important step.  The powder in the Embossing Buddy removes static and oils that the cardstock may have picked up from your hands.  Static and oil will attract embossing powder in places you don’t want.

TEACH me that! Learn the Heat Embossing Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 27, 2017 blog post

  • Ink your image in VersaMark ink.  VersaMark is a clear “sticky” ink, perfect for working with Embossing Powder.

  • Stamp image onto your cardstock.

TEACH me that! Learn the Heat Embossing Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 27, 2017 blog post

  • Sprinkle with Embossing Powder, covering the entire image.

TEACH me that! Learn the Heat Embossing Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 27, 2017 blog post

  • Shake off the excess powder and your image should be nicely covered in powder.

TEACH me that! Learn the Heat Embossing Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 27, 2017 blog post

  • Are you ready for the magic?  Heat the image with a Heat Tool until you see the powder go from a dull color to a bright, shiny image.  Continue to move the heat tool around until all the powder has melted.

Now you’re ready to create a card using the technique?  Here are the measurements for my card but get creative with your project:

  • Crumb Cake – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, score and fold at 4 ¼”
  • Island Indigo – 4 ¼” x 2 ¾”
  • Whisper White – 3 ¼” x 3 ¼” (cut a 3″ Stitched Shape framelit)
  • Gold Glimmer Paper – ½” x 4″

Did you know that you can also heat emboss in any color?  I shared a 2-Minute Tuesday Tip video with you back in 2015 that you may have missed.  Check this out!

Pretty cool, huh?  I hope you learned something today.  I know that for many of you, you are already familiar with this technique but hey, maybe there was a tip or two you picked up.  I hope so.

I really love to do heat embossing.  It always has such a WOW factor to it.  When people get a handmade card with that beautiful gloss, they are uber impressed.

Well, I am going to wrap it up for today.  Thank you all so much for stopping by.  I hope that you’ll join me tomorrow!  I’m heading into the stamp room to see what I can whip up for you.  Have an awesome day!

Back in November I shared a video teaching you how to make 12 Christmas cards in a matter of minutes.  As I was looking through some of my retiring Designer Paper, I came across my Sending Love paper stack.  It was great paper and even though I used it mainly for Valentine’s Day, I came up with this idea on how to use it up…. in a non-Valentine way.

I hope you enjoyed my quick cards today.  Any designer paper will work so I’m thinking why not create some different cards using other Designer Paper that needs a little extra love?  It’s so easy with this layout!

Yesterday, Ginny’s Show Choir (you may remember them singing to you on Valentine’s Day) had Oklahoma State Choir Competition. She was excited to compete but 6 days before the competition they hit a brick wall.  One of the other groups competing, a trio, discovers that one girl isn’t able to go so the choir teacher asked Ginny if she could quickly learn the words and the music.  Challenge Accepted!  I am so proud of how Ginny jumped in to help, otherwise the trio would have had to drop out.  There was no way Ginny would let her friends do that.

I am happy to say that Show Choir received a 1 on their performance and the trio received a 2 (1 is the highest so they did really well).  Congrats to these teens and their hard work!  What a great day for them!  I think celebratory ice cream might be necessary, don’t you?

TEACH ME THAT – Torn Edge Technique

TEACH me That! A new series by the Technique Design Team. Learn a new technique every Thursday at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com.

Teach Me That is a new series from the Technique Design Team. I am LOVING being a part of this group of demonstrators and having the opportunity to share some fun techniques with you each Thursday.  Today, let’s dive into the Torn Edge Technique.

For some paper crafters, this technique is super easy, for others, it’s a mystery.  The question is always, “How do I get a nice torn edge?”

TEACH me that! Learn the Torn Edge Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 20, 2017 blog post

Today in Teach Me That, I will be showing you three different methods to achieving a nice torn edge.

TEACH me that! Learn the Torn Edge Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 20, 2017 blog post

Are you ready to learn how?  Here we go!

TEACH me That! A new series by the Technique Design Team. Learn a new technique every Thursday at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com.

  • No special tools needed for this technique.  Simply tear TOWARDS you in little segments, about ½” to ¾” per segment.

TEACH me that! Learn the Torn Edge Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 20, 2017 blog post

  • This will give you that jagged edge.  You can use this side for a rougher texture or turn it over for a little softer look.

TEACH me that! Learn the Torn Edge Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 20, 2017 blog post

  • Another way to get a straight torn edge is to use a ruler.
  • Place the ruler along the side of the cardstock and pull towards you.

  • This will give you a less jagged look and also help you keep the torn edge perfectly straight.
  • This technique works well when you want to layer torn edges of cardstock as well.

TEACH me that! Learn the Torn Edge Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 20, 2017 blog post

What if you want to layer 2 pieces together and have the torn edges be the same?

  • Cut the cardstock to size leaving yourself about 1″ to tear.
  • Add a small dot of SNAIL adhesive to the back of the cardstock and layer so that the ends are lined up with each other.  This will help hold the cardstock together as you tear.

TEACH me that! Learn the Torn Edge Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 20, 2017 blog post

  • Tear the cardstock in small segments

TEACH me that! Learn the Torn Edge Technique at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com - look for the April 20, 2017 blog post

  • Now when you layer them together, the torn edges are the same.  This technique is great when you want to tear at an angle and have the torn areas look the same.

It’s a day of remembrance here in Oklahoma City today.  On April 19, 1995, two men plotted and initiated a horrible terrorist attack in our downtown area. A truck filled with explosives was placed in front of the Murrah Federal Building and at 9:02am, it exploded, killing 168 people and injuring close to 700.

I’m sure a lot of you remember that day and watching TV in total disbelief that anything like this could happen here in the USA.

It is a reminder that we should cherish every morning, say “I love you” to the ones we hold dear, and continue to pray for peace in our nation.

I don’t want the end of my post to be somber or make you feel sad but to encourage you to celebrate your life and to hug those you love.  🙂  I hope you know how much I love you guys and I want you to know that I cherish you!

2-Minute Tuesday Tip – Vellum Tip #2 Create a Card Cover

2-Minute Tuesday Tip - Vellum Tip #2 - Card Cover - check out the video at www.SimplySimpleStamping.com and look for the April 18, 2017

Last week I started a little mini series on fun ways to use Stampin’ Up’s cardstock vellum.  Did you catch that?  “Cardstock” vellum.  This isn’t that flimsy vellum you may have used in the past.  Because of its heavier weight, it has so many more possibilities.

Let me share today’s tip on how to create a vellum card cover like this one.

If you are a Law & Order: SVU fan, you know that we are kindred spirits.  This is my favorite TV show.  If there is a Law & Order: SVU marathon on, forget it.  I am on the couch for the rest of the day.

One of our local channels airs L&O on Monday nights.  Last night was a repeat of my favorite episode ever.  If you are fan like me, when I say, “The Stuckey Episode”, do you know which one I mean?  Of course you do!  BEST PLOT TWIST ever!

What’s sad is that the opening scene is a couple rollerblading and I scream, “It’s the Stuckey Episode!!!!”  Mr. Awesome just looks at me like I’ve lost my mind.  “How do you know that from 2 people rollerblading?”  All I can say is…. it’s a gift.

Well, that’s it for me today.  Join me tomorrow for a throw-back video to a wonderful shaker frame using the Endless Wishes stamp set. It’s always been a favorite of mine and this stamp set is going to retire at the end of May.   I just had to share the video again because the project is just too cute.

Hope you have a fabulous Tuesday everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!  Christina came home from college for the weekend so it was nice to hang out with her.

We had a wonderful Easter service at church.  I love my church family so much.  We attend a small church and I just love the feeling of family that we have there.

You guys know that we love all things musicals.  Well, somehow we have never gotten around to seeing “Beauty & the Beast” so we made sure that was on the list of “must do’s” this weekend. It was an absolutely beautiful movie.  Disney did a fantastic job.

Mr. Awesome finished up the taxes.  I know, I know…. we started them, stopped them, started them again, got side-tracked.  Oh let’s just call it what it is… we procrastinated.  I know that he hates doing taxes so he just chipped away at them little by little.  Good news!  We actually get a little money back this year.  Yay!
