MASKING TECHNIQUE

  • You can’t see it well in the photo but I have little dots of SNAIL adhesive on copy paper.

  • Rub the SNAIL on your pants or shirt to “de-stickify” the adhesive.

  • Line up your cardstock on grid paper.  Use the lines on the grid paper to make a straight line with the copy paper.

  • Repeat on the other side of the cardstock, leaving the amount of space you would like work with.

  • With a sponge dauber, LIGHTLY add ink onto the bottom of the cardstock.  You can add more ink if you’d like but you can’t take it away so always start light.  (I used Chocolate Chip ink here)

  • With a different sponge dauber, LIGHTLY add your next color of ink. (I used Marina Mist)

  • GENTLY remove the copy paper and admire how awesome your image looks.

  • I simply added the stamped cardstock to a card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals for a clean and simple look.

The measurements for my card couldn’t be easier:

  • Whisper White – 11″ x 4 ¼”, score and fold at 5 ½”
  • Whisper White – 3 ½” x 5″

So, here’s the deal…. Mr. Awesome and I have been on a weight loss journey for a long time.  About 5 years ago we did Weight Watchers and lost a ton of weight. He lost 90 and I lost 45.  We really enjoyed the food we ate and felt amazing.  Well, over the next 4 years or so, it SLOWLY crept back on.  I put on about 25 and Mr. Awesome, well, he would rather me not say.  For the past year, we switched to the Atkins lifestyle and started out great but we just stalled out no matter how diligent we stuck with it.

Last night we made the decision to get back on Weight Watchers.  The plan has changed and that makes me sad because I really wanted to go back on the “old” plan but we are going to give this a try and see how it goes.  I’m not as concerned about how I look at my current weight as much as I am frustrated at not being able to find clothes that fit.  I really need to make this happen.  So….stay tuned and I will keep you posted on the results.  🙂

The girls and I are off to the dentist so I had better close.  Have a fabulous day my stampin’ peeps!  Mwah!  See you guys tomorrow!

Thanks for sharing this technique. Very pretty card. Hope you & your husband do well on your weight loss journey. I know personally that it is a continuous battle.

  2. Barbara says:

Love your card today. TFS Best of luck with WW. It really is the best and most sensible plan out there.

  3. Jane Sprando says:

Connie, do you have a PDF of this technique so I can print it out?

  4. Cathy says:

Love this card. I think you’ll find Weight Watchers an excellent program. You can eat anything you want, but track everything and stay within you points. I’ve been on their new program since January and managed to lose 20 pounds. I highly recommend this new lifestyle.

  5. Charlsie says:

Love this card. Thank you. Good luck with WW. Lost weight with them many years ago and still doing good. Exercise with Leslie Sanone walking tapes. They are wonderful.

  6. gransarah says:

Great card! And best of luck with your weight loss. My husband has been on NutraSystem since January and has lost 50 pounds. He says it is amazingly easy and he is never hungry! I cant use it because it is soy based and I am very sensitive to soy 🙁 so I just stay fat.

  7. Lisa says:

Love your card….actually love everything you do! You will love the new WW plan. It is excellent and so easy to follow. You can basically eat whatever you want within moderation, of course, and with their new app, you can track everything on your phone. I love that you can scan everything that has a bar code (ridiculously fun for a grown woman) and the points show up. Easy peasy! Best of luck….I hope you love it and have great success.

    • Connie says:

The scanner on the App is so much better than it was years ago. I love it! The scanner works perfect every time!

  8. Julie Cordisco says:

Connie I too have been on “many” weight watcher programs, and I have to say that the current one has been the most successful for me. I lost 20 pounds in about 3 months. I was unhappy in the beginning that it had changed, but once I got started, I really liked it. I must say, I did go to the meetings in the beginning to get me excited about it, then just followed the plan! Good luck!!! Julie

    • Connie says:

WOW!!!!! Julie, that is AWESOME!!! You are an inspiration!!!! I have to tell you, I went to a meeting today and stayed for about 2 minutes and left. It was PACKED and I mean PACKED with people. I felt claustrophobic! I had to leave. I just couldn’t do it. I did use the personal coach and really like that though. I might keep doing that.

  9. Nan Hart says:

Connie, Sounds like you’ve got a lot of WW friends out here. I’m one as well. I’ve lost 30 lbs and would like to take another 20 off. I’m not a “spring chicken” like you, so it’s taking me a little longer. But I ask myself every day, “what would happen if I quit?” I know the answer to that. This is a LIFE change in eating habits and I do feel so much better.

  10. micheshe says:

Oh I want so to try this masking technique – so many do it, and I just haven’t yet. Can’t wait – thanks for the step by step.
Also, good luck with WW. It seems to be a normal story for those of us aging in the most graceful way! We lose the weight, but it slowly comes back. Hubby and I have done WW way back in ’04 and lost a lot of weight. Then we went on a cruise. Ha! So in ’12 we tried Medifast. That was by far the most successful for us and the quickest. We did get tired of the food though and it was pretty darn expensive. Now we are in to Nutrisystem to get those pesky 10-20 lbs off. It is working but much slower than we hoped. But, you and Rich will do fine! Just remember, it isn’t that we are gaining weight, it is that our brains are just so full that it floats down to the rest of the body! That is my thought and I am sticking to it! HAHA!!!

  11. Patricia Gasko says:

Connie I Love your card and plan to make it before the weekend is over. Best of Luck with WW new plan I was leery since it was so many more points than my old plan. I was a WW leader years ago and did so well on the old plan but due to not being able to exercise these past 4 yrs. I added some pounds and not able to get the weight off even though I’m now able to exercise. Well . . . WOW so much easier to track. I use my iPhone app to scan my foods before I buy them. I wish you and Mr Awesome the best and hope you both are “Losers” LOL Keep those terrific cards coming. Pat

  12. Susan Mack says:

Hi, Connie. Thanks for the simple masking technique. I share your ideas with my stampers who appreciate your tips..like the sponge on vellum and the small dragonflies.. Should we use the same template from last year for the tabs for this year’s catalog? Thanks for any suggestions.

    • Connie says:

I am hoping to get new tabs made but I want to use the new tab punch to create it. I can’t order it until June 1st so stay tuned! I will get them made as soon as I can. 🙂

  13. Susan Mack says:

By the way, the weight thing is never ending! We just keep trying to eat healthier and stay active… ;o)
