One of the most popular stamp sets in the new Holiday Catalog is the PAINTED HARVEST stamp set. I can see why. It’s truly an amazing stamp set.
The artist who created this set built in the watercolored look. Stamp it and you look like a watercolor artist!
I have heard rumblings that those who have tried this set think it’s defective because when you stamp, it looks blotchy or uneven. I’m here to tell you that when you follow up with the second stamp, you will see a beautiful final image.
Today in TEACH ME THAT, I will show you what I mean.
Are you ready to learn how? Here we go!
- Begin with the main ink color you would like your flower. I chose Daffodil Delight.
- Choose an ink color for the center of your flower. I am using Soft Suede.
- Whisper White or Very Vanilla as a base cardstock, either one is perfect. I am going with Very Vanilla for a more “Fall” look.
- Notice that this stamp set has (2) flowers in it. You will need to stamp with both of them to achieve the look.
- I like to start with the largest flower (the one with the hole in the middle).
- Ink up your stamp in Daffodil Delight ink and stamp onto your cardstock.
- See what I mean? If you stopped right there you might think your stamp was defective.
- Optional: Without reinking, rotate the stamp and stamp again.
- Still not very pretty is it. Not to worry! It gets better!
- Next, ink up the smaller flower and stamp right on top.
- Hey, that’s starting to look like something!
- Optional: Without reinking, rotate the stamp and stamp again.
- Rotating and stamping again just fills in with a softer color and it doesn’t take any extra time. It’s not necessary to achieve this look but it doesn’t hurt either.
- To fill in the center of the flower, ink up the circle and stamp.
- Very nice!
- Want to give your flower a little more texture in the center? Ink up the cluster of dots in Soft Suede and stamp in the center.
- Stamp 2-3 more times before reinking.
- Do this a couple times until you are happy with the center.
- It gives a nice texture to the center.
Now you’re ready to create a card using the technique.
Here are the measurements for my card but get creative with your project:
- Crumb Cake – 11” x 4 ¼”, score and fold at 5 ½”
- Very Vanilla – 3″ x 3″
- Soft Suede – 2 ¾” x 2 ¾”
- Old Olive Ribbon – 10″
