Upcycling Chipboard with Your Big Shot!

You guys know how much I love up-cycling!  It really is amazing to take something that would normally be trash and turn it into art.

Today we’re going to talk about chipboard.  You may have a ton of it lying around because a lot of Stampin’ Up paper comes with chipboard behind it to protect it during shipping.

Check out today’s video showing you how to transform that boring gray chipboard into some fabulous projects!

Want to see how I used those chipboard pieces on some projects?  The weight and dimension of the chipboard makes the cards huge WOW cards!

I sure love using chipboard in my paper crafting!  What a WOW factor it has!  And hey, it’s free!  Oh, and if you don’t have any chipboard, well, why not save those cereal boxes and cracker boxes.  They work great too!

Remember, Thinlits, Edgelits, and Embosslits will not work with chipboard so only use Bigz dies or Framelits.

Here is a list of the supplies I used.  Use what you have, order what you need!  Order by clicking a pic!

Wow!! Love it! Thank you for all the great ideas!

  2. Julia Stahn says:

can you use the die on the cuttlebug?

    • Connie says:

Julia, I can’t speak for Cuttlebug but I would be VERY cautious about it. I owned a Cuttlebug YEARS ago and it broke after just a few months. I was only cutting cardstock, there was a ‘pop’ (a gear broke) and it stopped working. Because the chipboard is so thick I personally wouldn’t risk it. The Big Shot is made with metal parts, not plastic, and I just don’t think the Cuttlebug is strong enough to take the chipboard. That’s just my personal opinion though.

  5. Julie Cordisco says:

Quick question Connie… Are you referring to the thinner type cardboard that comes with most DSP or the thicker cardboard style that comes with our glitter papers?

    • Connie says:

This will work with the thiner white cardboard that comes in the DSP but I was using the thicker cardboard that comes in the glitter paper. 🙂
