Weekend Update

Christina & Connie Stewart - Opening NIght of Steel Magnolias - Shawnee Little Theatre“I would rather have 30 minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.” — Shelby Latcherie

Well, we had 2 hours of wonderful last night – Opening Night!  We had a wonderful audience who was ready to laugh… and cry… and laugh again.  🙂  With all the snow and ice, everyone was ready for a fun night out of the house.

Mr. Awesome surprised Christina and I with flowers and coconut-pecan cookies (my favorite dessert on the planet).  It was SO sweet and there is just something wonderful about flowers in your dressing room.

My nephew and his wife were in the audience last night.  It’s a good thing I didn’t know they were there until the end.  I would have been even more nervous.  Funny thing is, I had no butterflies last night… just excitement!  We really had a great time and even though there were a few snaf-foos.  Shelby had her sweater on inside out.  That’s what happens when you have to dress in the dark and in 20 seconds or less.  I totally flubbed a line at the end but THANK HEAVENS M’Lynn saved me and was able to back up a few lines.  That’s what is great about an ensemble cast.  We take good care of each other.

Since last night was Opening Night, I made cards with steel magnolias on it.  Well, not quite….silver foil paper BUT one of the gals asked me how I was able to cut through metal.  🙂

I know you’ve seen this card before but here’s the great thing about Flash Cards.  When you’re in a hurry (and boy, was I) you can just change the colors, change the sentiment, whatever.  This card is embossed in silver embossing powder to keep with the steel theme.  If you know the movie, we talk about the color pink a lot so pink was the only color for these cards.

Well, I have about an hour or so before I have to leave and do it again!  Let’s see if we can get Christina’s clothes on right tonight and I can get my lines out of my mouth at the right time.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your comments, emails, etc for BROKEN LEGS and well wishes!  I appreciate you all so much!  You are such great friends.  Thanks for being there for me.  I love you guys SO much!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!  I hope to be back on Monday with a new project for you!

Well Connie, congratulations on what, I’m totally sure, was a total success first performance. I truly wish I could have been there.
If you can, maybe post a video or photos of this event, so we can see what we missed.
Now, go on and “break a leg”.
