WICKED Fun!!!!

Wicked the MusicalWe had the most amazing night!!!  We took the family to see the Broadway touring show “WICKED”.  The musical tells the story of Oz before Dorothy shows up.  All your questions about the witches of Oz are answered in this show – why the Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba) is green, how Glenda became the Good Witch of Munchkin Land, how the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion became who are they are.

Hayley Podschun as Glenda and Jennifer DiNoia as Elphaba, along with a FANTASTIC ensemble, we spent the evening on the edge of our seats (and trying hard not to belt out along with Jennifer on “Defying Gravity”)

My girls love their This & That books so I created some fun cards for their book, and a place for the actors to sign.

We didn’t get to the stage door fast enough to meet Jennifer and Hayley but the girls are going to go back to the theater on Friday night and try to meet them so they can sign their cards.

I was so thrilled with how my “Wicked” cards turned out!  You know, sometimes I make something and I’m like, “Meh?”  But these cards I was just so proud!

Thought I would share some pictures of the girl and myself meeting some of the cast members after the show.  (Got like 5 comments from strangers on “the red dress” – wahoo!)

We still have those smiles on our faces today!  Such a fabulous show!

Side Note:  the name Elphaba?  Well, the author of The Wizard of Oz is L.Frank Baum.  Take his initials L.F.B. and you get El Fa Ba – Elphaba!  There’s your little pice of trivia for today.

Well, you’ve probably had enough Wicked for today.  I hope you all have a wicked awesome weekend!

  4. You are so lucky to have that show come to your area. My neice saw it in New York and is still raving about it. Your girls are beautiful just like their Mother. Love that little red dress on you, Chicago is coming this month and I sure wabt to see it. Loved the movie.Nothing like a stage play in person. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Connie says:

Ada, we have tickets to go see “Chicago” too. It stars John Hurley (from Seinfeld and the Westminster Dog Show) as Billy Flynn. He will be PERFECT in that role! Can’t wait!

We’re not big “movie theater” goers but we do go see every Broadway show that comes to town. That’s where we like to invest our entertainment budget. 🙂

These cards are awesome! How do you get all the layers for the skirt? How many die cuts did you use? Did you just cut the skirts off the bottom ones or what? I HAVE to make this!!!

    • Connie says:

Glad you liked it!! I just cut from the waist down, even less on a couple layers (just cut it with scissors if it was getting too thick). I think for Elphaba, I used 7 including the dress itself. For Glinda, I only used 3 and cut them in half up the center and stretched them out.

Thank you. Now i would love to know how you made this wicked dress card. You made several of the dresses but only used the bottom half?

  12. Belinda says:

Thank you so much. I will try to make these.

Connie … love the red dress and you are pretty darn cute too! Congrats on your great year …. hope you are still pinching yourself! You had a cute polka dot dress at convention also …. thanks for your ideas! I may actually try those little dresses someday! Hugs, Denise

    • Connie says:

Hey Denise! I still feel so bad that I mistook you for someone else. I think it was lack of sleep at Convention. You know that is a CRAZY week. Thanks so much, my friend! Hope to see you at Leadership!
