Do you struggle to tie pretty bows? You would think that after we learned to tie our shoes, tying bows would be easy, right? So why is it so hard? Well, I have a couple tips for you in today’s 2-MINUTE TUESDAY TIP VIDEO on tying beautiful bows.
I’ve heard your struggles.
“My bows come out crooked!”
“The center of my bow never looks pretty!”
“The bow loops won’t lie flat!”
I hope today’s video will help you out! Let me share!
Last month, I shared tips to help you get organized and I liked having a series to share so I thought for February, I would focus on tips for working with ribbon. I hope that you found the first video in the series helpful. More to come throughout the month!
Wednesday, February 7th at:
- 11am pacific time
- 12pm mountain time
- 1pm central time
- 2pm eastern time
I have a wonderful project to share with you and this event is interactive! I thought it would be fun if you created right along with me. It will be as if we’re stamping together!
Check out what we’ll be creating – this adorable One Sheet Wonder Designer Purse. This was created with (1) sheet of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and inside you have space for a message and chocolates, lipstick, gift card, whatever you want! I think you’re going to enjoy the project.
Now, if you have ever created something like this, you know that your first attempt isn’t always your best so PLAN on this being your test run. I would recommend that you use Designer Series Paper that maybe isn’t your favorite (perhaps you’re trying to use up that extra piece of Christmas DSP) or you can use 12×12 cardstock too. The colors you choose won’t matter. This is only a practice piece.
If you’d like to create the Designer Purse along with me tomorrow, here’s what you’ll need to have ready. (IMPORTANT: If you copied these down yesterday, I had some incorrect measurements listed. These are the correct ones. Sorry about that.):
- 12″ x 12″ Designer Paper (since this will only be for practice, I would choose a pattern you’re not crazy about)
- 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” colored cardstock
- 1″ x 8 ¼” colored cardstock
- 3 ⅝” x 3 ⅝” White or Vanilla cardstock
- Ruler
- Bone Folder
- Stampin’ Trimmer
- Adhesive
- Small Velcro© Dot (remember this is only practice so if you don’t have this yet, it’s okay.)
Hope to see you for my special time tomorrow, 1pm central time over on Simply Simple Stamping on Facebook. I will be back to 7pm central on February 21st.
Looking forward to stamping with everyone tomorrow!
Have a wonderful Tuesday! Go show the world your awesomeness! Mwah! XOXOXO

Love the tip on tying such a beautiful bow. Thanks so much. Can’t wait for the others. I love using ribbon on my cards.
Thanks for the tip on tying bows. Since I had 4 boys never needed to make bows. This looked so simply. Can’t wait to work on tying those pretty bows.
Love this tip Connie, thank you so much for sharing.
XO
Maria
Love your bow instructions…I have to admit that it is learning all over again for me. I was taught to tie my shoes by my left handed Gramma Emma. So, when I tie bows, it is “left handed” so they never turn out good. My goal for February is to learn how to tie “right handed” so I don’t always have to use my bow maker. Of course that has saved me for years. Nothing like being 65 and learning how to tie your shoes right handed, huh? HA!
