Are you ready for video #3 in the mini series on different ways to use Stampin’ Up’s cardstock vellum? Today I want to share how to create beautiful overlays using Framelits and Thinlits. It’s just amazing what a little vellum can do to a die cut to create a softness and a delicate touch.
Let me share today’s tip on how to create a vellum overlay like this one.
Here are my measurements for my card:
- Wisteria Wonder cardstock – 11″ x 4 ¼”, score and fold at 5 ½”
- Blushing Bride – 4 ¼” x 2 ¾”
- So Saffron – 4 ¼” x 2 ¾”
- Cardstock Vellum – 4 ¼” x 2 ¾”

Since butterflies are my favorite I certainly will try making that card. Very elegant card!
Love the softness of the vellum. One cutting tip though. Why not put the vellum down first with the card stock over it? Then it isn’t so delicate removing from the die. Or had you tried that and it didn’t work out so well?
Excellent question! I found that the vellum picked up little tiny hairs from the cardstock and that showed up on the top of vellum so that is why I put the vellum on top.
