Happy Father's DayYep, yesterday was Father’s Day and being the good wife that I am, I planned a wonderful meal for Mr. Awesome… and made him cook it.  lol

Poor Dad’s.  They really get the raw end of the deal sometimes, don’t they?  On Mother’s Day, they take us out to a nice restaurant.  On Father’s Day, I buy steaks and make him cook them.

In his defense, he wouldn’t have it any other way.  If I were to grill steaks, they would be raw on the inside and charred to a crisp on the outside because I am clueless when it comes to the grill.  Rich is the GRILL MASTER.  So we all enjoyed a great summer dinner of steaks, corn on the cob, and broccoli salad (yes, I made that part).

I made him a card as well.  Sorry I couldn’t show it to you earlier but he stalks my blog sometimes.  I was inspired by a Pinterest pin and created my own version of this fun beer card.  It’s made entirely out of Framelits.  The problem was it was too big for the card!  Well, Dad’s deserve a tall beer on Father’s Day I guess.

I did have a gift for Rich too…homemade beef jerky!  lol  We are not big into giving gifts around here.  I guess after 23 years of marriage we both know that anything we might want or need, we have already shopped for it together.  I know that Rich loves beef jerky and I had been thinking about making it so I bought a dehydrator (thanks Amazon for 2-day shipping!), got up early on Sunday and put it in.  By the time we got home from church, it was Beef Jerky Time!  It was DELISH too!

2 lbs. flank steak ⅔ c. worcestershire suace ⅔ c. soy sauce 2 T. honey ¼ c. brown sugar 2 t. black pepper 2 t. onion powder 1 t. liquid smoke 1 t. red pepper flakes Ask the butcher to cut the steak for jerky. Trim off any fat and place in a ziplock bag.  Add marinate and place in fridge for 4-8 hours. Remove meat and pat dry on paper towels before placing in dehydrator.  Follow instructions for your dehydrator.  Store in airtight container.  If there is any fat on the jerky, store in fridge.And I didn’t stop at jerky!  I also made dried apples and bananas too.  SO good!   Those dried apples and bananas taste like candy!  Yum!

Well, I hope to get into my stamp room today but today I am a full time Mom.  Orthodontist appointment, party planning (Ginny turns 13 on Monday), and a dress fitting for her.  My mom is making her an Anna costume from the movie Frozen (Ginny is obsessed with Frozen).  Next week I will post pictures of her in the dress because Ginny looks JUST LIKE Anna so it’s really cute.
