I am so excited to share my BRAND NEW series, Teach Me That! Every Thursday I will be sharing a new technique to help take your stamping creativity to a whole new level. Who’s excited?!!! I am honored to be working with the Technique Design Team to bring you share new tips & techniques each Thursday.
Today in Teach Me That, I will be showing you how to take an ordinary stamped image and incorporate the look of “adult coloring” to it. The best part? It’s easy and FUN! Warning: It’s also addicting!
- Stamp images randomly on cardstock, filling in as much space as you can.
- Use a Project Life Journal Pen, fine tip Sharpie or any black pen and trace around all the images. Trace right on the image and/or around the image. Just doodle and have fun.
- Be careful not to smear black ink so work from the top to the bottom.
- If you make a mistake, just doodle over it.
- Don’t worry if your doodles aren’t perfect. It’s a doodle. It’s okay for it not to be perfect.
Other Ideas to ZenDoodle to give each image a different look:
- Add dots
- Add squiggles
- Dotted lines
- Double trace around an image
- Bling it up with rhinestones
You’re ready to use the ‘ZenDoodled’ cardstock to create a card. Here are the measurements for my card:
- Rich Razzleberry – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, score and fold at 4 ¼”
- Daffodil Delight – 4 ¼” x 3 ¾”
- Whisper White – 4” x 3 ½”
- Pool Party 1 ½” x 3 ½” and White 1 ¼” x 3 ¼” (Triple Banner Punch)

Great idea Connie! Love it!
So happy you are here!
What a great idea! And you made a good choice for your first “teaching.” This doodling made such a difference, but I think I will have to practice a bit – another excuse to watch Dancing with the Stars, while I “experiment.”
Sally, I have to say that it’s not about perfection. I was actually a little sloppy in mine but the key is that doodling ins’t “perfect”. Just have fun with it.
Super idea and right on trend! Thanks for sharing
Thanks Susan! So glad you liked it!
THIS IS A FUN IDEA, GIVES A DIFFERENT LOOK TO A FUN CARD !
I know, it really does. I can’t wait to play with it some more!
I really enjoy all your teaching classes!! Thank you for coming up with another one for us. I can’t wait to try some doodling cards.
Doodle away, Vicki! Have fun!
This looks like fun how creative need to defiantly try this soon.
I hope you will Janice!
Very cool! I forgot about this technique ,thanks!
I know. That is one of the things I want to do with the TEACH Me That series…. bring back to mind some of those techniques we have forgotten about.
I love the look this adds to the card. I have played a little in the zen doodle practice but never tried it on a card . Thanks for this great tip Connie
Glad you learned something new… well, sort of. It’s fun to start with stamps and work from there.
Oh, oh, oh – loving this! Thanks! One question – did you cut your Whisper White the exact size you needed before stamping on it? Can’t wait to try this,
I do but you don’t have to. You can always cut it down after you’re finished.
Very cool Connie! Also well explained. Can’t wait for my next Tuesday lesson.
So glad you liked it Arlene!
Your new series with ZenDoodle will be fun. I just had to go back to your video on this technique with your flash card #70 on April 2, 2015 and watch how you did this. Fun, Fun, Fun! Looking forward to seeing what you design and what stamp sets you will be using. Thanks Connie
I always loved that card from 2015. I missed using the technique so it was fun to do it again.
I like this Connie, always wanted to learn Zentangle and I suppose this is a start. Thanks
It’s fun to let the stamps do some of the work to get your started. It’s a lot of fun to do.
