Sympathy cards are not the cards we want to ‘make’ but the fact is, they are the most important cards we make. Today’s NOW or WOW card will showcase a very simple sympathy card.
Let’s start with the NOW card.
Dragonfly Dreams has been one of our most popular bundles in the Occasions catalog and when you see the detail in the dragonfly, you can see why it’s a hit.
This card has a nice soft touch to it with those faded dots.
A little “pop” of the dragonfly and in minutes you have a sympathy card ready to mail.
Oooh, but look at the WOW card!
I love the texture the Hexagon Embossing Folder gave to the Blushing Bride cardstock.
The Gold Wink of Stella made a tremendous difference in the dragonfly.
And to tie in the gold, I added Gold Metallic Thread and Metallic Enamel Shapes. It truly is a WOW card.
Let me share today’s NOW or WOW video with you….
Here are my measurements in case you missed them:
- Mint Macaron Card base – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, score and fold at 4 ¼”
- Blushing Bride Flash Card – 4 ¼” x 2 ¾”
- Very Vanilla Flash Card – 4″ x 2 ½”

WARNING! BRAGGING MOM MOMENT! I mentioned yesterday that I was heading out to see Ginny play Maria in her high school production of “Sound of Music”. I just want to scream from the rooftop how AMAZING SHE WAS!!! I know, you’re siting there saying that any mom would say that but GUYS, SHE WAS SO AMAZING! Not gonna lie, I bawled through the entire show. I was just so proud of her. The entire cast did a great job but this mom was just memorized by Ginny. She has such a beautiful voice. You need to know that she got this talent from my Dad, not me. My Dad was a very talented singer…. and I know he is in heaven bragging to everyone about his granddaughter’s performance.
Can I share another story that warmed my heart? This was a school performance so it was all high school kids. I found a chair next to an older woman and her wheelchair bound husband. As we waited for the show to begin we struck up a conversation and she was the choir director’s mom. Her husband had a severe stroke a year ago and just getting him to the show was a chore but “Sound of Music” is his favorite musical.
As the opening music started, and Ginny came out singing “The Hills are Alive”, this sweet man burst into song. Don’t misunderstand, he wasn’t loud, but he was so moved by the music that he just had to sing. His wife would lean over and whisper, “Honey, don’t sing, don’t sing” so he hummed…. the most beautiful hums I have ever heard. What blessed me was that this man, who due to this stroke couldn’t communicate or comprehend our conversation…. but music he understood. He knew EVERY word to every song. Okay, so I am bawling as I type this but to see the POWER music has in our lives and how this man couldn’t even speak… but he could sing….well, I just had no words, only tears of joy.

I visit your blog almost daily and love your style and sharing of your family activities with your readers. BUT today’s post really touched my heart too, in so many areas. Love everything about your card and the great video. Your wonderful experience at Ginny’s play brought tears to my eyes too. Sound of Music is one of my favorites too. Thanks for making my day.
Your Sound of Music story got me teary eyed. Music seems to be so deep in our souls that nothing can destroy it. I saw a video/movie called Alive Inside (believe you can see it online) that shows people who are almost catatonic and when they put earphones on them and played music from their era, their eyes came alive and some of them moved in rhythm to it. Talk about a tearful experience! Music is awesome! Wish we could hear Ginny sing….(hint)
As soon as I can get a copy of it, I will post. 🙂
I love reading about your pride in your daughter! Way to go, Ginny! And by the way, I know she has a multi-talented mama. Hugs to you, sweet friend!
Aww, Amy, you are a sweetheart. Hope to see you soon!
I love your card. Thank you for sharing your story of the people sitting next to you the night of the Sound of Music. It’s so nice to hear stories like those!
Beautiful cards Connie, love them both, this set is just so lovely.
And you have every right to brag about your beautiful daughter, I can only imagine her singing this beautiful songs.
Thank you also for sharing the sweet story of this couple enjoying the performance, music knows no boundaries.
Hugs,
Maria Rodriguez.
