TEACH ME THAT - Background Stamping - Simply Simple Stamping

Today in Teach Me That, I will be showing you how to create with Background stamps. I have always loved to work with these big stamps because they give the base of my cards an instant ‘texture’.

This background stamp, Post Script, is a has a collage/vintage style. I love that I can create a background like this without having to stamp a dozen different images to achieve it. Not to mention, I am not very good at collage so it’s nice that Stampin’ Up did the work for me.

Are you ready to learn how fast and easy Background stamp are? Here we go!

Begin by laying your Background Stamp on your work table. Add ink by tapping the ink pad all over the stamp.

Gently lay your cardstock in the center of the Background Stamp. Be careful not to move it around – there’s already ink on your cardstock as soon as you lay it down.

Cover the cardstock and stamp with scratch paper (I just use copy paper or junk mail)

Give your cardstock a nice massage. Rub your fingers all over it, making sure to get the edges, corners and all around the middle.

Gently lift the cardstock away, being careful not to slide it. You don’t want to get ink in areas you don’t want.

Admire your background paper that you created in less than a minute!

Now you’re ready to create a card using the technique? Here are the measurements for my card but get creative with your project:

Crumb Cake – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, score and fold at 4 ¼”
Fresh Fig – 4″ x 5 ¼”
Very Vanilla – 3 ⅞” x 4 ⅞”, cut to 3 ¼” x 3 ⅞” after stamping
Burlap Ribbon – 3 ½”

Here’s another card I created using the Definitely Dahlia background stamp. This card was SO fast to create!

I love the new Fresh Fig In Color. It’s a very rich and regal color. Pair it with Daffodil Delight and you have a winner!

I added just a touch of the Eastern Palace Designer Paper and the new Double Stitched ribbon.

Daffodil Delight – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, score and fold at 4 ¼”
Fresh Fig – 4″ x 5 ¼”
Whisper White – 3 ¾” x 5″
Designer Paper – 1″ x 3 ¾”
Ribbon – 5″ plus a bow
