I have so enjoyed being a member of the Design Team called Fancy Folds each month. It’s a fun challenge for me to take a piece of cardstock and create something over the top or out of the ordinary….but still keeping it simple. Today on the Fancy Folds Blog Hop, I will be sharing a fun shutter card technique with you and from here you can enjoy a BLOG HOP to see what my fellow demonstrators from around the world have created.
If you are on the HOP right now, you have just joined me from my demonstrator friend Astrid from Austria. If you are starting here at Simply Simple Stamping, you will find her card at the end of the hop so make sure you go through them all.
It’s funny that the Design Team chose the shutter card for today because I had actually been working on this card a couple of weeks ago. They must have been in my head.
The True Gentleman Designer Series Paper is wonderful! Masculine and dapper!
In the past I have always created shutter cards with a circle punch but look how cool it turned out with the Tailored Tag punch?
How about a video on how I created today’s card? Let’s go!
You can create this card with a lot of different punches or Framelits too. The key is to make sure they are smaller than 2 inches (the width of the banner punch). Experiment and have fun!
Here are my measurements for my Manly Shutter Card:
- Night of Navy – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, score at 2 ⅛” and 6 ⅜”
- 3″ x 5 ¼”
- (2) 2″ x 2 ¾”, score at ½”
- True Gentleman Designer Paper – 2″ x 5 ⅜”
- 1 ½” x 9 ½”, score at 2 ½”, 2 ⅝”, 7″, and 7 ⅛”
- Very Vanilla – (2) 2″ x 2 ¾”
- Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine – 9″
Want to create today’s card? Here are the supplies I used. Use what you have and order what you need.
Now that you’ve seen the video, it’s time to keep on hoping!

Great card, i thought there would be more to it!Thanks for sharing Connie!
If it’s not easy, you probably won’t see me do it. 🙂
So beautiful, with my favorite DSP from the occasions catalog !
I love it too!
Thanks for sharing such a neat card, wow!!
have a great week!
Glad you liked it Karen!
Love, Love, Love this card! in your printed directions though you show the 2 Night of Navy pieces for the shutter mechanism as (2) 2″ x 2 ¾”, score at 2 ⅛”. However, in your video, you say to score at 1/2″ and not 2 1/8″ as shown in the printed directions. I plan on making this card for my Pastor’s birthday this month. Thank you so much for this GREAT card and all the others you have on your blog. I get your email updates and also subscribed to your YouTube channel so I don’t miss anything. God bless, Linda
Sorry about that. It’s the same measurement whether you score ½” or 2 ⅛”. Some people find scoring on the longer measurement to be easier.
dear Connie, thank you for showing us this beautiful “Dad-card”. It’s often so difficult to create cards for men 😉
